The second-generation Jaguar XF, particularly in 2.2 form is a very reliable car. In fact, probably more so than its German rivals. It does however suffer problems with door latch failure. This is a relatively common problem and one we are used to fixing quickly.
A new latch is required and fitting takes an hour. It is worthwhile you checking the operation of your door latches regularly. One of our customers discovered to his shock that neither of his rear doors had been locking for several months.
We advise you to regularly check operation. Lock the car (and in the case of the keyless entry models, put the keys some distance from the car). Open each door in turn and see if any that should be locked open. Next unlock the car (again in the case of the keyless entry models, put the keys some distance from the car). Open each door in turn. Note if any fail to open correctly.
If you note any discrepancies, write down which door was affected and give us a call. Chances are the electronic latch has failed and needs replacing. You cannot put a price on safety and security.
